Alveolar proteinosis: An uncommon presentation of a not so common disease

We report a 14 month old child presenting with history of recurrent interstitial pneumonia, finally turned out to be Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis (PAP) secondary to Niemann Pick Disease, diagnosed on high index of suspicion and appropriate investigations. This is the first case of Secondary Alveolar Proteinosis due to niemann pick disease type C with NPC2 mutation to be reported from India, to the best of our knowledge.
